We offer courses for a variety of ages to teach members of the community how to play taiko. Please fill out the appropriate google form to register for the course.
Children’s Taiko Course: For children between the ages of 8 to 13. This course is designed around the theme of Obon! Children will learn about Japanese culture related to the festival, create chochin (paper lanterns), and learn a taiko song and dance! There are 8 sessions total, starting July 9th and going through August 27th. We will meet from 12:00 to 1:30pm on Sundays. On the final day, we will have a mini festival, and family is invited to watch a performance! Cost is $20 per session, or $140 if made in a one-time payment. Course fees cover supplies and teaching materials.

Beginner’s Taiko Course: For teens and adults ages 14 and up interested in learning how to play taiko. This course will introduce students to multiple songs, different playing styles, and culminate in a performance for family and friends. 10 sessions, 2 hours each. Classes will begin June 25th and end August 27th. We meet on Sundays from 2 to 4pm. Sessions are $30 each or $270 total if paid for as a one-time fee. Course fees cover supplies and teaching materials.

Taiko Crash Course: An intense, 2 hour crash course on playing taiko where students spend two hours learning how to hit the drums, how to stand and move around them, and how to play a song. Recommended older teens and adults. Dates and times to be determined.
